That a recent wonderful discovery in mi croscopy has not been even noted in the public press may be cited as proof of tho general apatheti: tendency as regards scientific mat ters. Tho microscope has always been re garded as a wonderful instrument, but by the discovery of an entirely new kind of glass lately its powers are increased to an incrediblo degree. It was in tho year 1878 that Dr. Abbey read a paper before tho South Ken sington association, in England, in which ho strongly set forth his ideas that it was pos sible that a new land of glass might be made which would increase the power of tho micro scope.
