It is very important that this should be dis tinctly understood, as the sums thus levied on the commerce of New Orleans by these oflicers, are a very serious burden. Some delegates who were not present yesterday presented cre. dentials. After the transaction of some business of minor importance, Dr. Bentley, of Steubenville, Ohio, presented the report of the joint committee of the Old and New Sctool branches of the church on the enbiect of teunion. Them committees were appointed in 168. They consisted of fifteen members from each body. the report is signed by all but three members, and, while they approve it. their signatures could not be obtained in time. The report recommends a reunion on the follow ing basts: First-The reunion shall be effected on the doe trinal and the ecclesiastical basis of our common standard.
