Attention Fellow Citizens, to "Scribo." [Newspaper Article] — Visalia Weekly Delta — 19 May 1860

Attention Fellow Citizens, to "Scribo." There is a new luminary in all its radient splendor, ascending to its culmination in the dark and misty hemisphere of the west, and its present scintillations, to distill new vitality and warm into life, new principles and methods, are felt, especially by the citizens of Tulare county. He comes to correct all the abuses of society in every man, doctor, lawyer, farmer, merchant, cow trader, hog driver—attention, everybody! "Scribo" has spoken, and intends to speak again; wisdom is in his head, it blazes from his pen—it radiates from his brow—society is out of course, everything is in the wrong channel. But Scriby, in the fullness of his benevolent heart, is here to correct it; now is the time— now is the day of salvation—to-day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Are you a merchant ? "Scribo" can tell you whom it is safe to credit. His knowledge of human affairs, his wide and comprehensive judgment, his philosophic eye, having so...

Review of "Hard Times.—No. 1." [Newspaper Article] — Visalia Weekly Delta — 19 May 1860

Review of "Hard Times.—No. 1." RINALDO RETORTIBUS Were a person to cry storm, storm, when air, earth, sky and sun give no signs of coming commotion, one would naturally turn his eyes towards the false prospect, shake his head, and involuntarily exclaim, insane! perhaps drop a tear of compassion, pass on, and dismiss the matter from his memory.
