SHIP NEWS. —The ship Ann, Captain Wil- kinson, having procured the whole of her car- go of oil, came to anchor in the Cove yester- day, preparatory to her departure for England. The quantity of black oil she has obtained here during this very successful season, is 242 tons, with 100 barrels of sperm oil, which she got at New Zealand.       The General Musters of the Settlement closed with that of New Norfolk on Thursday, on   which day the Lieutenant Governor returned to Hobart Town. We are happy to learn, that the result of the     present Muster shews a very greatly increased cultivation throughout the Settlement.   By the attention and vigilance of some of the Police, a number of articles which have been stolen in recent robberies in the houses of Mr. Florence and Mr. D...

IT appearing to be understood by some Settlers, that they are entitled to allow the Crown Servants assigned to them on the Store to go at large, or to employ themselves on their own Account, exacting a weekly Payment from the Servants so employed; His HONOR the   LiEUTENANT GOVERNOR finds it necessary to declare that the Regulations of the Territory expressly forbid this Practice ; and should any Instance of it hereafter be known to exist, the Settler who may act in Breach of this Order will be deprived of the Service of any Government   Man who may be so improperly let at large, and will be excluded from any further Indulgence from Government.   The LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR thinks is also necessary to explain the Intention of that part of the Regulations recently promulgated, which limits assigned Servants to at least twelve Months' Service in the Employment to w...
