Roman Catholic Ball. A GREAT SUCCESS. The annual ball in aid of the funds of the local Roman Catholic Church was held on Wednesday evening of last week. The hall, which was prettily decorated, was filled to its utmost capacity, while the seating accommodation pro vided on the stage for onlookers was also fully taxed. A large number appeared in fancy costume. and three fancy dress sets-viz., Highland, Ragtime and Irish competed for the prize for best set. The result was a win for the Highland set. The prize for best-dressed lady went to Mrs Silver, and for best-dressed gent, to Mr silver. For best poster Miss Ladd was sunccessful, while the waltzing competition resulted in a tie between Ur T. Farrell and Mrs J. O'Loughlin and Mr W. Wil loughby and Miss Ladd. The floor was in good order and dancing was indulged in with zest till well into morning to the accompaniment of masic supplied by Messrs L. Kennedy (violin) and R. Lawson (piano). Mr N.
