Federal Politics. To-day (Friday) the federal elections throughout the Commonwealth will take place, and perhaps never before has suoh keen interest been manifested in the result of the voice of the people, which will be expressed per medium of the ballot box. Tho electors of this distriot are called together at the various polling booths to record their votes in favor of six Senators, and also the eleotion of one candidate to represent Illawarra in the House of Representatives. The list of aspirants for a seat in the Senate i« too numer ous to particularisp, and the elector has our sympathy in the unenviable task of selecting the moBt desirable. He should, however, select his six men before going to the polling booth, and then when voting carefully mark through all the names with the excep tion of,the8ix he thinks most entitled to seats in the Senate. Debt on St. Jude's Church, Bowral [Newspaper Article] — The Southern Mail — 2 April 1901

Debt on St. Jade's Church, Bowral About a month ago the liberal sum of £200 was offered to the Rev. Stan ley Wilkinson for the reduction of the church debt if he could raise another £100. The donors were Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Kfigwin— £100 being given by each. Injthree week's time the rector of the church was able to announce that, he had over £100, and so the church debt is further reduced by £306. Since the reotor has re turned from Japan — only four months — he has been enabled to pay the vrry satisfactory sum of £390 off this debt.

Locke, the half-caste, whose aotion, on Monday week last in kidnapping a 12 years' o-d school girl at Marsden Park threw the residents of the dis trict into a Btote of alarm, surrendered to Constable Howard at the Ryde Police Station on Saturday morning.' Grenfell Bank Robbery. [Newspaper Article] — The Southern Mail — 2 April 1901

Grenfell Bank nobbery. The trial of Wiiiiam Herron Wood fall on a charge of stealing £4100, the property of the Union B ink of Aab tralia, Ltd., was concladed at Grcnfell on Friday. The evidence showed that accuBed was employed as a clerk in the ?bank, and in December last obtained Jpave to go to Sydney. While he was ubsent suspicions were arouaed, which Jed to on examination of his hooks, when it was discovered that defalca tions had been going on for somn time. A warrant was issued, and some weoka later Wood f nil waa arrested at Too -woomba show in Queensland. Wood fall was found guilty, and was sen tenced to 18 months' hard labor.
