Stock and Crops Tat Farias. "A Northern Farmer," in the Mark Lane Jlrprcss, gives his opinion on this gubject as lollows : "In this paper much stress Iia3 been laid on the neces sity of keeping a heavy stock constantly on the larni ; yet some care must be ta ken to prepare a proportionate amount of food, and to have it for every season ; otherwise, instead of profit, the year's transactions will end in loss. The farm er w ho is overstocked, is always in trou ble ; in Spring, he must stock the pas tures too early, for the want of house food, and in Autum he must permit the cattle to remain 'in the fields until, through exposure to bad weather and insuilielency of food, they become great ly reduced in condition. If to avoid this lie begins early on his stock of roots and hay, he is run out, very probably, in March, the very season when the length ening day and the chilly, cutting winds cause increased consumption, and a struggle of sonic kind must be made to hold them over on purchase...

TO PHYSICIANS. The'.Pnyetteyllle Jatm ami goucholtl Audi tiale staDie. ii II FS II Itl It IS I IRilM R Storing Winter Apples. A correspondent of "Laws of Lite," uho claims to liaveliatl cxtciulcil ex perience, is decidedly of tlic opinion that apples keep far better wkcu put into close boxes or barrels, and se cluded as much as iosfeiblc from the air. When thus stored, lie says they will come out in the spring1, full and plump as when taken from the tree. Many varieties as the Talman Sweet, pitenburg, and those kinds lhatarc not considered a.- long keepers and hrivel badly, will do well treated in this way. J have, he continues, found universally, that they keep better to let them lie without picking over. It is much better to pile them into a large bin across the cellar, say six or oven lect high and four or live feet wide, and cover them up tightly, than to lay them on shelves. i once saw such a bin that a man had kept through the winter. About the first of April he thought he wou...
