Two young men, according to a Paris paper, were reoontly seated In front of a cufe on the Boulevardo, when one of them unmcd Lucein W., informed his frleud that he had just come into possesion of !i,000 francs, adding thnt the (J,000 francs in bunk notes, were safely locked up iu a drawer in bis room, and he should not then trouble himself witli business. lie 1iad a sum of fifty francs in his pocket, with which he proponed that he and his friend should go to Asniers and enjoy tbeaittolves with boating, dining, a ball etc., and not return until two o'clock in the morning. An Ashland county Ohio, letter gives the following Interesting account of the origin of the great number nf apple trees In the WeHt: The Immense apple crop of this part of the slate of Ohio during the Inst' season serves to recall the life of Its pioneer nur sery man, whoso memory is yet green in the minds of many of the oldest settlers. As a hero of endurance that was volunta rlally assumed, and of toll the benefits of which could only he reaped by posterity, the name of Johnathan Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, deserves a perpetuity beyond that of a generation of lesser lights passed in the glare and romance of the tomahawk and scalping knife period. Mr. Morris TelTt, who lives scvernl miles In the country, lias a dog wliioh Las displayed a Wonder fill amount of sagacity, an Instance of whloh I will give in his own words i "Several nights since my wife woke me up about two o'clock In the morning and told me the dog was nt the door trying to get In. I listened and presently heard blm scratch at the door and then at the window, at the same time making a whining noise, as if trying to get my attention. My wife said ; "Mor ris there's something the mutter with the horses."
