(To tho Editor.1 Sir,— As the directors of this society are endeavouring again (though de feated in their previous attempt) to extend: the business of the society to England, I, with your , permission, desire to place before tho many per sons-interested, the arguments' I hold are; conclusive against the advisa bility of the extension. The main objections to the proposal, as stated in the leading article of the issuo of the Sydney Morning Herald of the 6th. hist, are : — i (1) It transcends the objects of the founders of the Institution. (2) The extension will disproportionately in crease the expenses. (!!) Will reduce the rate of interest on the funds available for investment, and (4) will introduce less healthy lives.
