The Progress Committee will discuss im portant matters this evening. Several cases'of typhoid existin Goulbiirn at present. * A new sensation. Two dwitfe in Sloano streel looking for the inspector of nuisances. Mr. Myers is moving in the riglit to se cure trams for the country districts. Five new cases of small-pox have been dis covered in Sydney since Friday. Six small shops were destroyed by fire at Brisbane on Monday last. Upwards of 1300 children have beon vac cinated by Drs. Morton and Gentle during the past week. A girl named Watson, residing in South Goulburn, died from typhoid fever on Mon day last. IN the'Assembly this afternoon Sir Henry Partes stated that the Buy a I assent had been given to the Churoh and School Lands Sale Bill. He also stated that the matter of regulating the Civil Service had been under the consideration of the Cabinet several times, but bo was not at present prepared to say what course the Government intended to take.
