Mr. Aehton met with the heartiest of hearty receptions He spoke for tiro hours on the vexed questions. - The most important work of last session was the Land Act, and the prominence giren *o wn measure was aue to the persistence of country *riembers, including himself. Those members foresaw that a conflict with the Council was inevitable before the taxation reforms could be carried and they wanted the Land Bill through first. The Land Act was the most liberal measure, with respect to new settlers, that the oountry had yet seen.
