HISTORY OP THE BE AVE B V£L> . ¦¦...:¦¦¦¦ ;• LEY.' - , Correspondence of the Pittsburgh Gazette. Beaver Vallby, Dec, 1873. iFaperNo. 6.] BEAVER AS IT tS. Beaver now contains a population of abotit 1,300 souls, of as indostiious, moral and temperate people as can be found in Western Pennsylvania. The location cannot be surpassed, either in point of picturesque and charming scenery, or in its healthfulness. It is lo-«ated on an elevated plateau, abruptly rising from the Ohio river and running to tbe foot; of the hills behind it—while by a gradual slope, it descends to the waters of the Beaver on the east. The buff fronting Che Ohio, places the town high above tbe water level and relieves it largely from the dense fogs common to river towns, and the miasmatic influences that might form from the ponds beneath its feet. Its elevation gives it a commanding position at the mouth of the Beaver Valley, enabling its denizens to overlook t*> a certain extent in front, and...
