^^^ et }^^^^^^^* Bj ?~ j Cout ^ SrW ^ SS E|^ ^ £ OoiTjeS ; A CONVENIENT HOUSE T HIS is a wooden house built on the story and a half plan , having four rooms down stairs and four rooms on the second floor . One feature about this house that will strike every woman favorably at the very start is the amount of closet room . A great many good sized houses are not convenient because they lack proper storage . Clothing and other accessories and necessities accumulate with the years and it is necessary to have some place to put extra things when they are not in use . A woman used to consider herself lucky if she had one clothes closet , or clothes press , as it used to be called in -New England . In fact , the word press was quite expressive because such accommodations * were usually made movable and they were so small that when a woman hung up three dresses she had to press the door shut , if she ever got it shut ; but builders of houses have grown liberal with advancing years until now t...

General Farming [Newspaper Article] — Farm Press — 1 March 1908

General Farming SPREADING MANURE BY MACHINERY By H . A . Franklin T HERE is something about the fine even distribution of farm manure that works especial benefit to the soil . There is a theory , unsupported I believe by scientific facts ,, to the effect that farm manures are Impregnated with bacteria which are especially valuable to growing plants , and that a small particle of manure may carry a colony of beneficial bacteria to the roots of plants , to the very spot where they can do the most good , just as well and release them better than a larger hunk . Time was when farmers hauled manure out on the ice in winter so it would float down stream in the spring in order to get rid of it . From that time to this manure has increased in value in the estimation of farmers until now we feel p...
