The Commercial Club held their regular meeting in McQuitty hall on Thursday, June :13th. The meeting was well attended, about seventy five present. The Wheatland Baud were in attendance and gave us some good music. The progress this band has made, for the short time it has been organized, assures us that it will be one of the best bands in the state before the end of the season. They favored us with four choice selections, and every one received hearty applause from the club. We are fortunate in hav ing an organization of such great ability in our town. From the latest information re ceived, the railroad from here to Melville is a sure go. Mr. North, the promotor wants the, deeds, for the right of way signed up at once, so he wrote Mr. Smith, President of the Commercial Club. This railroad will open a fine tract of wheat country and gives transportation facilities for all the irrigated lands on the upper part of Sweetgrass river, about 500,000 acres in all. The ranchers on the Sweetgrass and around Melville, have devoted all their energies to raising stock, on account of being so far from a market. Land used for range pur poses is only worth from $5 to $6 an acre, while agricultural land, such as they have in that teritory, this railroad will open up is worth from $30 to $50 an acre. The 'Democratic convention is over, and Wilson receives the nomination. Champ Clark was in the lead for twenty-five ballots, and received a majority of the votes for several ballots, but when New York gave him it's vote Bryan started to fight against him. It looked as if Bryan was trying to dictate the policy of the democrats. He was the whole show on the resolution committee and then suc ceeded in downing Clark. Mr. Bryan should remember that no man gets bigger than his party. His action has practically taken away 'from the democrats what show they had to win.
