The finance committee was out but a half day when they received subscriptions amounting to nearly 2,000, or a little over $1 each for every man, woman and child enu merated in the town in the eleventh census. Albuquerque is raising a $500 purse for a fireman's tournament during the territorial fair. The advertising of the funding act seems to be the latest cause of worn xuent to opposition papers. When the republican patty went into power it found silver worth about 90 or 91 cents. It has steadily advanced un til it is now worth 109. Coffee, cotton, bananas, olives and other tropical productions should thrive and prove profitable in the Salt, Gila and Colorado river valleys. A San Francisco telegram say that the Santa Fe company has engaged .1,000 Chinese laborers who will be placed at work next week constructing its line to wards San Francisco.
