Louisiana is an advocate of a tariff tax on gucrar and rice. Gold on Tuesday last touched 10l the lowest point yet. The career of our Senator Stanley llatthawa is rather of the pillor of cloud description. Senator MorrUsey, who has bten near death's door is said to be grad ually improving in health. Secretary Thompson has been ask ed to send a man-of-war to the Ama zon, to assist American commerce there. It is proposed to increase the sala ries of the Supreme Judges in Ohio to $5,000 per year, which would be little enough. The Democrats of the House it is said do not favor an investiga tion of the Chandler allegations in relation to the alleged bargains.
