MONROE, LA., JANUARY 9, 1874. The river commenced fal ling, slowly, yesterday. Vo have had all sorts of weather during the "twelve days." We apoligizo to the average newspa per subscriber for issuing a whole sheet this week. Mr. Kindcrmnann'S advertisements are worth consulting by every head of a family; they are right to the point. See a new announcement this week. The City Council is entitled to our commendation, for requiring offenders against city ordinances to work on the streets when they fail to pay their fines. We refer visitors to New Orleans, in want of carpeting, &c., to the card of Mr. A. Brousseau. We know of no better house in New Orleans, dealing in similar goods. All the meanness and rascality in our nature rise to second the preamble and Sesolutions passed by the Kellogg Sen ate, endorsing Pinchback. Our rascal ity, as a general rule, never "flickers." The Natchitoches Times is no longer. Mr. Pueckette informs us that he has sold his office, and expects to engag...
