6 THE IMPERIAL PRESS rUBLISHRI) RATURDAYB AT IM PP.KI At., C A 1... BY IMPERIAL PRESS PUB. CO. P. 0. HAVBNS, Editor A Manager SATURDAY, JULY 1. l«J05.~ THE EXCURSION FROM SAN DIEGO Our friends from the county seat who paid us such an enjoya ble visit this, week have returned to their homes, enthusiastic over the brilliant prospects for our Valley. The San Diego Cham ber of Commerce are to be con gratulated on their pubhcspirited ness in promoting this excursion, and complimented on the excel lent manner in which the whole trip was handled. The Chambers ot Commerce of Imperial and Braw ley played the role of host in a very credible manner indeed, and the boys have a right to feel proud of themselves and of each other. So much for the excur sion; now, for its lesson. To Imperial Valley, it was an op portunity to be seen, a chance to show our neighbors what we had done and were doing for ourselves arid to modestly point out what we expected to do in the near future. It was a pleasant i...

IMPERIAL Cool refreshing breezes at Coronado Tent City. Second-hand, two-seater, canopy top, for sale cheap at Edgar Bros. Imperial Grain & Milling Company wholesale dealers in grain and mill stuff. C. J. Schenck is putting his store room, on Imperial avenue, in repair so &b to have it ready for .occupancy. It has been vacant since Andre sold out, but Mr. Schenck anticipates no trouble in renting it. The new coat of paint on Witman's plumbing shop adds a glow of color to that side ot the street by day and the new electric lights in Stevenson Bros window, lights it up by night, so the west side of Imperial avenue between Eighth and Nineth shines all the time. We notice among the possible leaders in the Los Angeles Times scholarship contest, the name of Walter Fisher of Calexico. Young Fieber attended the Imperial school last term. We hope he will win the scholarship, make the best use of his opportunities and grow up to be a useful man. '.';'».''.. Our good friend Charley Fer...

OUR SAN DIEGO NEIGHBORS They Visit Our Valley in Force and See For Themselves What We Are Doing — A Happy Event and Promise of Closer Relations in the Future The excursion of San Diego business men and prominent citizens to our Valley last Sunday and Monday was an event long to be remembered both by the excursionists and by the people of our city and Valley who met and en joyed their boundless and enthusiastic good will. The people of San Diego are noted for their chivalry and that large hearted and cheerful sympathy which in, after all, one of the greatest blessings of mankind. The 105 men and women who composed this excursion party abundantly made good the fair name of San Diego in this respect. We do not believe that it has ever been our good fortune to 'meet a party in whom all the graces shone with more effulgent splendor than in this . party of San Diego citizens. They came to our city and Valley to see us and to congratulate us on 'the wonderful work here accomplished. Their ...
