Correction. —In our last issue we stated that the distance to Mono Lake from here was one hundred and twenty-five miles. Mono and Washoe — Their effect on California. Every excitement that has the effect of producing migration of course changes the general aspect of a government. It more or less changes the character of the government by transferring its numerical strength ?.nd wealth from one section to another.— This oscillation of the California population is perhaps beyond precedent in any country, ancient or modern, and is attributable to the character of her industry, and the glittering phantom of reward that here and there loom up to decoy the honest and toiling laborer.
