Itwas impossible to conceive a more ridiculous case of alleged felony. It seemed that Air was in an hotel bit Petersburg and offered to throw with any other person for drinks. Sheridan accepted the challenge, and each max: put down a shilling agreeing that 5V one who threw higher number twice out of three throws with dice should escape payment. The Bunker Hill Mine (Communicated) [Newspaper Article] — Petersburg Times — 9 March 1888

Tine Banhcr IlillSIine (Communicated) During a recent visit to Broken Hill I visited amongst others the Bunker Hill Mine situated about 20 miles from Broken Hill on the road to Thackaringa and about 4 miles from that Town ship. This property is at. present un developed, although I understand a syndicate has recently been formed for the purpose of testing the property, but. of nil the Mining Ventures upon which little or no work of any consequcn^e has been done, this appears to be one of the most promising in that district. The Hill rises rather abruptly from the plain and is from 120 to 150ft. high, the view from the top being extensive and interesting. In the distance the smoke from the furnaces at the Broken Hill Mine can be seen while nearer, apparently some seven or eight miles to the west, one has a fine view of the well known '? Pinnacles" conspicuous in the Landscape. On the Bunker Hill there are large masses of ironstone and a fine outcrop of great width can be traced for a ...

The Petersburg Times, [?]ROROO CHRONICLE AND NORTHERN ADVERTISER. FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 1888. [Newspaper Article] — Petersburg Times — 9 March 1888

Cfre Jjjciersburg Cimts, OBBOROO CHRONICLE AND NORTHERN ADVERTISER. FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 1888. The threatened invasion of the Northern Territory by Chinese raises questions that it is impossible to satisfactorily answer. What is apparent' is that the Governments of the various colonies are determined to. act in concert to repel the in vaders, and doubtless the re cent action of our government is the result-That does not end the matter, however in any respect. It seriously begiiis there. The point on which information is wanting is to what extent , the. Chinese Government is associ ated with the enterprise. The recent visit of Chinese, ambassa dors reveals an association of some kind. If that Government be intimately -connected with" the invasion the prospect is full of concern. If all of us in Aus tralia put on red coats and kept killing Chinamen for twelve months the dead men would not be missed out of the teeming population of Chin^ . She could keep on invading their as* now. Further,...

Useful Dairy Hints. [Newspaper Article] — Petersburg Times — 9 March 1888

tlsefai Sairf Hints. Canon Bagot, in a recent lecture on dairy farming, threw out some hints well worth rememberng. Ft was not, he said, the cow which prod need the milk aloue, but the food and water which they put into her" for the animal was only the machine which produced the milk and cream. He impressed upon liia audience the necessity there was for. treating their cows with gentleness, as in case a dairymaid or any one else illtreated a cow, then she would not let down her milk, and results would follow. A cow must be milked with quickness, and no time ought to be lost in getting the miik strained into the settling p»ns- " Saving spoken of the great necessity there, was"for cleanliness in order ?that the miik might produce the greatest quantity of good cleans, he said milk ought to l>e shallow i*j samnier. sun deep in winter 111 the paT5S.
