THE North-eastern Ensign. Published on Tuesdays and Fridays. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1872. [Newspaper Article] — The North Eastern Ensign — 1 November 1872

Publisbed on Zuesdays and Pridays., FRIDAY; NOYEMBER. 1st. 1872. IF the Councillors of the Shire of Mansfield were to determine to expend a large amount of money in soap with the hopes of washing   out the peculiar characteristics of their Presi dent, it would only be a waste of public money and of an article of domestic use. Pos sessing an idiosincracy at once peculiar and pronounced, that gentleman is like the con demned criminal, beyond all earthly hope, and it would be useless to essay to bring him within the four corners of moderate or com   mendable acton. Living in a locality where his particular gyrations are erroneously mis- taken for startling evidences of talent and energy, this Mr. Rowe has, from time to time, shown himself above those ordinary rules which guide common mortals. Being a man, largely endowed "with, brains," possessing a gigantic intellect, combined with a noble spirit and a most tender heart, he has always shown that he is far abo...
