'— I Proposed Supervision of! the Thistle Act. DEPUTATION TO WOORAYL SHIRE COUNCIL. STRONGLY OPPOSED BY RATEPAYERS. THE ACT TO BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. ! At the monthly meering of the Wooray 1 Shire Council on October 30th, a deputation waited upon that body from Mount.Eccles, and urged that the Thistle Act, relat ing to the compulsory cutting of shore thistles, be suspended for three years- The speakers con tended that if the thistles were left uncut they would soon die out. The council considered the question after withdrawal of the deputation, and a resolution was put that the request of the inter viewers be acceded to. Four councillors voted for the motion and four against, and it was de cided to hold the matter over for a full council meeting on 27th November. On Friday last the council was waited upon by a deputation con sisting of 25 ratepayers from dif ferent parts of the shire, for the purpose of entering an emphatic protest against suspension of any part of the Thistle Act.
