At home, we have been busy, while our southern friends have had their full share of sport. The Newcastle Jockey Club com menced with two days' racing on Thurs day, and concluded '011 Saturday, every thing passing oft' agreeably. The Open ing Handicap set the ball rolling, with Sentence as tho winner, defeating such a good performer, and muchthought of horse as Invader, who did not succeed in getting a situation. Eight faced the starter for the Selling Hace. when Carrington, who also started favourite, annexed the prize. The New castle J.C. Handicap was the principal event of the day, which fell to Invader, though he was by 110 means a favourite. Victory.
