Now ife will not question our cotemporary's-isinccrily in this apology, yet wo will say, that, so far! as we have been able to ascertain, three Democrats stayed1 at home on tlje day of the election, to one Whig, and we believe this <to hate bee|n the case generally. , However, wie, would respectfully smuggest, that to obviate so direful a calamity hereafter, tbe Whigs he prohibited by Iheir 'party tacticians and leaders from sowing buckwheat or planting potatoes the season {preceding any important election. 'We can fefesee but one objection to such a policy, and|,that is, it would be very likelyi to deprive Feileral editors of an excuse for defeat!
