The roads leading to HIarlowton will receive little if any work this season. For the first quarter be gining March 1, and endrling May 31. the county commissioners apro priatcd $150 for the Harlowton road district. How much of this has so far been spent? We do nol know! but road supervisor J. E. Foster has been ordered to discon tinue any further road work during this quarter. This is disapointing news as our roads are in anything but good condition, and it was hoped that with the present su pervision, roads leading to Harlow ton would be placed in first- class" condition this season. A meeting of the board of di rectors of the Montana Flour Mills Company, was Held in Harlowton Tuesday. Visiting members pres ent were Noman J. Hatter, Helena, A. J. Weir, Lewistown. Im portant action was taken relative to the expansion of the company's business. The directions author ized' the construction of a four story addition to the present mill building to be used for elevator work and cleaning house, also six reinforced concrete grain tanks with a capacity of 250,000 bushels. Washington, June 1.-The con-1 ference report on the three-year homestead bill was agreed to by the house today and it is beleived the president will soon sign, the measure. Changes from the original bill were niade by the conferences as follows: This provision in the house bill was stricken out: "That the entry man may be absent from the land for not more than five months in each period of one year after es tablishing residence." The New Road to Be Called the Ameri can Fork, Melville and Southern R. R. Co. The citizens were surprised when asked to attend a meeting for the purpose of meeting W. A. North of Spokane, who is promoting the railroad from Harlowton to Mel ville, in Sweet Grass county. The length of the new road will be about 35 miles, and opens up as good agricultural country as any in the state, Mr. North explained that to finance this road, he had to promise that the right-of-way would be given them and a bonus of fifty thousand dollars paid npon the completion of the road.
