Amarillo Man Gives Lecture to United Congregations of the City at the Methodist Church. Sunday evening held in store a great treat for the people who attended the union services at the Methodist church. Prof. Lauery of Amarillo, who had lectuced at the Baptist church Sunday morning on "Civic Righteousness," stayed over to address the union meeting. Mr. Lauery took for a subject "God's Model of a Citizen. ' As a scriptural basis for his re marks, he chose the Apostle Paul as the great model of a citi zen. Paul was chosen because he was continuously reminding people of his city, of his race and of his citizenship. CENSUS RETURNS FOR CANYON OUT SOON THE Canyon Was Scene of Great Festivities During Tuesday, ' J nes and Thursday of This Week in Honor of the Ex-Confederate Soldiers. Canyon was the scene or a great reunion for the Ex-Confederate soldiers on Tuesday, Wed nesday and Thursday of this week. The only thing to mar the pleasures of the event were the rains which prohibited part of the programs from being held but the old soldiers proclaimed themselves well satisfied with the result even though deprived of part of the treat. The program started Tuesday morning with music by the band up town and later at the reunion grounds. At nine o'clock the saldiers assembled at the grounds and organized, with Capt. Last week was excursion week and many men who have land here, took advantage of the low rates to see their possessions. Several called at the News office and expressed their surprise at seeing everything in such good condition while all through the crops are in bad condition. From all sections of the country came the same reply "Corn will not make half a crop. It is very discouraging indeed.''
