READ THIS, AND THEN REMEMBER THE LITTLE ONES. ANNIE AND WILLIE'S PRAYER. ANNIE AND WILLIE'S PRAYER. BY SOPHIA P. SNOW. TWA8 the ere before Christmas ; "Good night" had beenJAnd said. And Aunta and Willie had crept Into bed '. There were tears on their pillows, and tears In their eyes, And each little bottom wag heavy with sighs. For to-night their stern father's command had been given That they most retire precisely at seven Instead of eight; for they troubled him more With questions unheard of than ever before. The new mood of Secretary Evarts on the Mexican queetion U foreshadowed in the asserted announcement that Diaz will be recognized. A'Columbus dispatch of the 6th savs: "The Republicans seem to be almost unan imous in favor of giving the complimenta ry vote te General Garfield." The charge that every Governor expects to be a U. & Senator, and therefore takes great interest in national politics in their messages, doe not apply to the Governor of Ohio, for he does not even allude to national politics. It is not surprising that Beecher should indulge the idea of arranging a heaven for himself, but the coincidence, perhaps, may be a little surprising, that in setting up the allusion, the printer should stumble upon the word harem, instead of heaven.
