Correspon~denzce. Deer Creek News It is reported that some of the eas tern people brought cold weather with them, as the cold stopped when they departed. If this be true, it is our opinion they had better stay away un til settled weather. Millard Stubrud left here Friday bound for Wisconsin, where he expects to spend the rest of the winter with hi. parents. Theodore Johnson is reported on the sick list at this writing. J. R. Wold hauled hay for F. W. Voss Tuesday last. Gust Schlicht called on Joe Holtz Tuesday. Fred Voss was in Glendive Satur day. John Wold was numbered among the sick last week. J. M. Bradbury went to LaCrosse, Wis., Thursday. Ingeman Peterson left here Friday to spend the remainder of the winter at his former home at Black River Falls, Wis. Oscar Peterson, who has been ail ing for some time, is quite convales cent. It is said that the mail carrier was lost in the storm Wednesday night, and the mail did not arrive until Thursday morning. Wing passed away last night at the family residence after a long and patient suffering from the dreaded disease, cancer. Susie May Swiger was born in Ken wick, Iowa, April 9, 1880. SUBSCRIPTION PRICE, $2.00 PER YEAR Entered as second-class matter March 3, 1905. at the postoffice at Glendive, Mont., under the Act of Congress of March 3, 1879. THURSDAY. FEB. 3. 1910. Work Finished On Dam The last stick of timber has been placed in the Lower Yellowstone Dam, and on Jan. 29, workmen started to pull down the last cofferdam, after which there will only remain a small amount of rock to be placed in the apron in order to fi:,ish the structure. The dam is 700 feet long and 12 feet high, and its successful completion thus early ih the season and before danger from the ice is an achievement reflect ing ciedit on the engineers in charge. The dam will insure a full head of water to the Lower Yellowstone Main Canal, and it is now only necessary to extend the canal and lateral system in order to irrigate all the project lands, amounting to over 60,000 acres.
