Thursday July 1 1982 Page 5 Bartlett Strangers Bring Home 4th Place Trophy The Bartlett Strangers ' placed 4th In the Miller High Life Open this past weekend In Taylor. Twelve teams were entered from Temple Austin San Antonio Taylor and Bartlett. The Strangers Wasted no time Saturday morning as they battled to a 12 to li victory over the Taylor Warriors. Later in the day the Strangers downed one of the toughest teams entered Aus- tin White Lime 11 to 10 in an exciting finish. The Sunday 2 p.m. game against Temple's Lambert Oil was a defensive battle all the way. The Strangers came away short 4 to 3. Once again the Strangers did battle with the Taylor Wurrlors and again came out winners G-3 in a very hard fought game. Senior Vice President DOUGLAS W. Wil- liams announced the utility applied to the Texas Railroad Commission today for an increase in Its city gate rate. The company's application requests $90 million in in- creased revenues for its Transmission Division Inclu- ding too percent recovery of the increased cost of gas purchases. Using a monthly average consumption of six thousand cubic feet (Mcf) per month a Texas residen- tial customer's bill would increase about $4 per month. The following item was copied from The Taylor Democrat and reprinted in The Bartlctt Tribune on Sept. 19 1913: "A. P. Flannlgan former- ly publisher of the Hutto News was a visitor in Taylor Wednesday and paid the office a fraternal call. Mr. Flannlgan Is editor and pub- lisher of a paper to be established at Schwertncr Texas the new town midway between Bartlctt and Jarrcil on the Bartlctt and Western Railway which lias a popula- tion of approximately GOO Inhabitants." (Hnl) Cunningham publisher of The Llano News was elected president of the Texas Press Associa- tion at its 103rd annual convention in San Antonio June 26. Cunningham succeeds O. G. (Speedy) Nicman pub- lisher of The Hereford Hrand as head of the state- wide press organization. Dorn in Henrietta Texas Cunningham got printer's ink on his fingers and like- wise on his face and seat working as a printer's devil for the Henrietta Independ- ent and Henrietta Peoples Review while still a high school student and he's never got it off. Jane Hill graduated from Bartlett High School in 1975 and graduated from The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979. For the past two years she has been teaching in Salado in a fifth and sixth grade combi- nation class. She is the daughter of Helen Williams of Bartlett and the late Billy Williams. Jane and her husband Allan have live in Holland for the past three years. " Jane will be teaching the third grade class in Holland Elementary beginning this fall. Another new teacher Wil- liam C.
