TEMPERANCE TOWN. Alioht fourteen miles from Chicago there is a remarkable place, which demonstrates how happy, prosperous, and contented people can be where strong drink-that ally of the devil -is not used. It might put a considerable claim to be called Utopia, but its real name is Pullman, and it takes that name from the inventor of the famous railway car. It is a beautiful town with immense manufacturing establishments, neat dwelling-houses, church, halls, shops, anti a depot, all brick, which have grown up within two years. Business, philan thropy, and temperance, have combined to make the place what it is. Mr Pullman w.s animated to do what he could to provide better conditions for the great number of working men in the employ of the Pullman Car Com pany; and he wished to demonstrate to capital Ists that such an undertaking, conducted on business and temperance principles, could be made to pay. The place has. now 7,00ooo in habitants, and 2,5oo are employed by the above company....
