GOOD RACING PROMISED [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 21 April 1950

GOOD RACING PROMISED A day at the Yea Picnic Cup meeting' on Saturday should prove very entertaining. The Gay Revelry Cup is attract ing attention in Mr C. 1-ollock's win dow this week, and will afford the biggest thrill of the day as the" main event. The focal entry will be Eastern Story, as that bay gelding carries the burden of trying to win the cup permanently for Mr and Mrs M. Monkovitch. Mr G. O'Neill, last year's winner, will not be field ing an entry. The golf club-house has now been shifted, and will serve as head quarters for the Racing Club as well as the ladies' catering. Mrs J. Bennett has charge of the latter, on behalf of the Catholic ladies. Mr L. McLure will conduct the soft drink booth, and Mr D. Weir the liquor booth. Forty-eight horses-have been nom inated, so good fields and betting should help make the Yea Racing Club's big day well worth while. All stewards are especially re quested to be in attendance one hour before the first event at 1.45 p.m.
