Storm at Mount Kosciusko. THE ERECTION OF A SHELTER HUT. [Newspaper Article] — Robertson Advocate — 8 April 1898

Storm at Mount Kosciusko. THE ERECTION OF A SHELTER HUT. Jindabyne, Tuesday.— A fierce snowstorm is raging on the mountains about Kosciusko, and residents are anxious as to how Messrs. Iliff and Newth are managiag. The present shelter simply consists of two calico tents and an Arctic tent, whilst there is only a limited stock of provisions.   The mountains right in close to Jinda byne are all snowclad, and the depth of the fall futher out can only be guessed. There seems to be no im mediate hope of the weather breaking. At the first opportunity Mr. Ingleby will leave with provisions for the observatory. The first load of building material has reached the summit, and the builder is leaving Cooma with   men shortly to put up the hut. The winter provisions have left Cooma, but great difficulty will he experienced in getting them up the mountains.
