HEALESVILLE V. CORANDERRK. [Newspaper Article] — Healesville Guardian — 25 May 1894

HEALESVILLE V. CORANDERRK This match was played at Coran- derrk on Saturday last, and turned out to be a very tame and one-sided affair, the "dusky warriors" having no chance from the beginning. There was a large attendance of Healesville ladies and gentlemen. Alex. Donnelly cap- tained the Coranderrk, and H. Christie   the visiting team. Umpire Thompson started the play at 3.24, by bouncing the ball, when Purceli obtained pos- session, and sent the oval well into the Healesville territory, where it was marked by Southern, who sent it out on the wing, ,but Purcell again re- turned it. F. Strickland got a mark, and did a long kick down the wing, where Purcell was awarded a free kick and returned it again, when Peter Hunter was given a free kick in front of the visitors' sticks, from which a behind resulted. Kicked off, the ball was taken well in front of Coranderrk's uprights, where Mitchel kicked a be-     hind. Sent away, Smith returned well i...

SCRATCH MATCH. [Newspaper Article] — Healesville Guardian — 1 June 1894

SCRATRCH MATCH. A football match which excited no little interest was played on the local Recreation Reserve on Saturday last, between teams representing 'the Presi dents. '(Mrt: M'Sweeney) aid : Vice President's (Mr Clements). ' The ganie, which was got up principally to get the club into good form, was, although -rough at times," an exceptionally good one, and if. the same form is shown to-morrow against Lilydale our boys ought to give a good account of themselves. Christie captained the President's ;team and J. Smith did likewise for the' Vice-President. On the ball being bounced about 3.15 it was plainly seen that both sides were evenly contested, a lot of up and down play being indulged in. At the tingle of the hell for the first quarter the game" stood :-President's 1 goal 3 behinds, Vice-President's 1 goal 1 behind. Off again a lot of wing play was executed, when the hall was brought into the. Vice's citadel, when another goal'was notched to the credit of the President's team...
