CHECK TO LITIGATION. [Newspaper Article] — Temora Herald and Mining Journal — 12 December 1882

CSSCK TO LI7IQA.TI0K. Thc history of this goldfield, since its opening, has famished a striking illustration of the pernicious effect on tiie social and material progress of a district exerted by wholesale and ruin ous litigation. Not only has the advancement of the entire district been retarded by this means, bat highly TatuaDie properties nave Deen swal lowed up in law costs and the owners reduced to an almost penniless condit ion. And, in addition to all this a chronic sftte of illfeeling, bad neigh borhood and serious heartburnings have been engendered, which remain rankling in people's minds after the events whioh caused them are forgot ten. Nothing perhaps has tended more to cut a baneful shadow over the progress and social advancement ot Tamora, than the evil genius of needleea litigation, whioh like a suici dal mania seems to have posseesed the minds of a large number of the resi dents ot this district. The refusal of Mr. Warden Moasisxrr to give legal - costs in every trump...

THE LAND QUESTION. [Newspaper Article] — Temora Herald and Mining Journal — 15 December 1882

THE LAND QUESTION. -The deep interest centred in this ? question during the present general ? election shows that the public mind is ' ill at ease concerning it. The. public ? estate, the patrimony of the nation at i large, iB speedily slipping from their grasp, and parsing into the keeping of a few greedy monopolists : and at no distant date, if this state of affairs continues, the balk of the national estate will be confiscated, and the evils growing out of landlordism, 'which are now the bane and ruin of Ireland, will bo repeated here on a grand scale. The evil is undeniable, bnt what is the remedy for it ? Polititaane { wishing to make capital oat of this j question, and gain a seat in Parlia- | merit- say return members, prepared \ to oust the Ministry.
