This week a number of interested town and district residents were privately circularised asking them to attend a meeting in the Bungil Shire Council Hall on Wednesday night to discuss formation of the association.N The meeting will attempt to 'agree on a constitution and endeav our to set a date for a public meet ing in the Town Hall at which the association will bo officially formed. Late last year a similar movo was made, but collapsed. DRY CONDITIONS NEAR BLACKALL Near-drought conditions exi.-t on the 25-mile stretch leading into Blackall, according to the Superin tendent of the Iieicbhardt Babbit Board (Mr. Rathbone), who re turned to Roma this week after a week in Blackall. Mr. Bnlbbone said lliat the condition of tlie road for food and water between Jtoma «ud Morveii was exceJicnt «nd tiafficublo for stock. Tlie main stock route going Nortel from Morveu wrs in very good condition, and tbc-wuterhole at Jamicsou Creek was full. From Augathella to Tambo the route was also good, bat going off as it pro ceeded North. From Tambo to 25 miles south of Blackall it continued in good conditiun, but from then on to Blackall the country had missed tbo recent rains, and was almost drought stricken. All the main creeks, including the Barcoo, had ran, although not I bankers, and had good wjrter. E. G. Maiden). The hostel, which is now accom modating approximately' 29 boys and 12 girls, re-opened on Monday. The children, who are aged between six and 10 years, ore drawn mainly from the district, and are attending \ the State School or the State High- and Intermediate School.. The appeal for a boya' library was initiated by the assistant general man ager of Queensland Primary Producers' Cooperative Association (Mr. Horace Flower), who recently forwarded a dictionary to the hostel.
