DEAT~E OF MR. T. -UDSPETH. SThe many friends of Mr T. Rudspeth will be sorry to learn of his sudden death in Perth, which occurred two days after his arrival there from heartstrain. The Irainho Rifle Club, of which he wts a member, had tlheir raugo closed last hight out of respect to his memory. Mr -Iudspeth, who was for many years an official of the corporation of the City of Melbourne, only left last month to take up a commercial position in Perth. The deceased leaves aWife and three children to mourn their loss.

Scots Sabbath School. The anual excursion and picnic in connection with Scots Sabbath School. Heidelberg, was held at the Lido Gardens, Hampton, on Satur day week. Accompanied by a num ber of the parents, the teachers and scholars left Heidelberg by the 8.43 a.m. train, and shortly after ten o'clock found themselves at the tryst ing place. FOREIGN MISSIONS. The Ryc: R. C3. Nicholson, who first ministered in the Brighton IMethodist cir cuit, and for some years has been attached to the MIethodist missions in the Solomon Islands, is. doing mission deputation work in Victoria: He is accompanied by two Christianised natives, Daniela Bula and Alexander Eereke, aged respectively 22 and 24 years, both Vela la Vela Islandors. Bula is engaged in the translations of the Scrip tures and other literature into his native tongue, and Sereke specialises in mechanics and other practical occupations, and at Vela has charge of the motor launch and other machinery in connection with the mission. Mr Nicholson was the first white man who had resided on the island when he had in augurated the mission station 10 years ago, andwas assisted in establishing himself in the favor of the natives by the medical knowledge gained during his missionary training. Cannibalism and other uncivilised pr~ectices had been rampant amongst the 4,000 islanders,...
