CHURCH FINANCE. After Evensong on Sunday night a largely attended meeting of the con- ] gregation of St. Andrew's Church, i Mannum, was held. The Rev. J. L.' Bond, who presided, said the meeting had been called at the Instance of the Finance Committee for the purpose of considering the financial position of the church, which was tar from sat isfactory, and it was felt that the congregation should be fully Informed of the state of affairs, and If possible, some way out of the difficulty found. Mr. G. H. Anthony (Priest's Warden) then read the financial state ment, which showed a present deficit of £78. A large portion of the deficit was due to the upkeep of the motor car. As the financial year would end on March 31 It was highly desirable th4t an effort should be made to wipe out the deficit. IMPROVING BUTTER EXPORTS. MURRAY BRIDGE FIRST PRIZE. To encourage the managers of butter factories In South Australia to Improve the quality of the butter manufactured by them the Dairy Advisory Board offered prizes for the highest average of points awarded by the graders of butter ex ported from the State during the past season. R, J. Finiayson, Limited, won the first prize with an average of 92.64 points for Dorset brand butter manufactured by its Murray Bridge factory, of which Mr. P. Edwards ts the manager. The second and third prizes went to the South Australian Farmers' Co-operative Union for butter made at their Mile End and Narracoorte factories with 92.59 and 92.57 points respectively.
