Sugar.—There is a probability that sugars will, in a short time, become muc.h reduced in prices, for, if we may judge from present indications, the speculations in that article have reached a culminating point. * The vast product this year.from the _carje, the maple tree, and the sorghum, with the unsold stock of last year, bid fair to give, the people cheap sugar for some time to come. * Late and Early Sowing.—The Edit tor of the West Chester Record, mentions a circumstance that has fallen under his notice in relation to the crops, in Chester county, which, as it occurs also in Berks, is worthy the attention of our farmers. He says it happens frequently that one farmer has an excellent yield, while his next neighbor has scarcely more than half a crop. James C. Dobbin, Secretary of the Navy under President Pierce, died at FayetteviHe,NorihCarolina, on Tuesday of last week. A Native Volcano.—In the Broad Mountain of the Schuylkill coal region, a subterraneous vein of Coal has been burning for twenty years. 00°The Rolling Mill of the Cam bria Iron Company wa3 entirely destroyed by3 fire, on the 1st inst. The loss is about $60,000. It will be immediately rebuilt. _O_^_T reported that Thomas J. Rusk, U. S. Senator from Texas, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, at his home in Texas, on the 29th ult. No cause is given for the act.
