V Culture of Forest Trees . I . At a recent meeting of the Farmers Club of the American Institute , Mr . A . S . FOLI LKB read an Interesting paper on Forest Trees . He said : Instances are not wanting to prove that thousands of acres of valuable timber are annually destroyed by men who have no use for the land after the trees are removed ; at least they possessed more acres that are already cleared than they can properly cultivate . I do not now refer to tbe cutting of timber that is required for building or fuel , bnt to the many instances where the sole object in its destruction was for the purpose of allowing the proprietor of obtaining a slightly lengthened view from his dwelling , or that which is most probable , pampering to that foolish weakness which is far too general among land-owners , ot having it said that they possess a few more acres of cleared land .
