Receipts of Live Stock at the Union Stock Yards during the past 24 hours 420 cattle, 1,867 hogs Shipments 337 Cattle, 20 Horses. There is no Improvement in the general cattle market. There is possibly a better feeling on tidy choice butchers' grades, especially in cows and heifers. Ship pers did not buy a hoof. Local butch ers took a few and an outside party purchased eight head of stock steers. Everybody would like to see an im provement in the situation, but it is hard to tell when it will come. The sup ply of hogs was quite liberal. Market opened strong at yesterday's closine price, $3.47 1-2, on packing grades and advanced rapidly until $3.55 was reached. This was the ruling price for the day; three loads of choice hogs. however, sold 2 1-2 cents higher than that. Mexico went at $3.40 and $3.45. The market closed steady at the ad vance. Receipts of Live Stock at the Union Stock Yards during the past 24 hours430 cattle, 1,638 hogs, 45 horses, 12 sheep. The cattle receipts consisted mostly of stockers and feeders -which are going into the country and were not offered for sale here. Trading in the cattle de partment was the lightest for months as there were very few cattle offered. There is no improvement either in price or demand and the market is slow and draggy on all grades. Hog receipts fully up to expectations. Market open ed about steady at yesterday's ruling price, $3.55, and nearly all oi the pack ing grades sold at that money. The close on eastern markets noted a de cline and a few loads which arrived late sold at $3.52 1-2. Mexico's bulk sold sold at $3.50, highest $3,52 1-2, lowest $3.45. The close was steady. Receipts of Live Stock at tho Union Stock Yards during the past 24 hours 111 cattle, 3,589 hogs, 654 sheep and lambs and 17 eoats and kids. Shipments 479 cattle. The cattle receipts were fair but the market was dull and draggy and. only a few cows and heifers chang ed hands, and the packers bought them. There is very little, if any, improvement in demand or price on any grade, and really no encouragement for shippers at present. The supply of hogs was very liberal for Thursday. The market opened a full nickel lower than yester day's close on account of report of heavy runs and lower prices in Kansas City, where they had a weak and de clining market all day. This market declined early to $3.45 and closed steady at $3.42 1-2. Heavys sold from $3.37 1-2 to $3.50. The supply of sheep was large and composed of all kinds which are for sale here.
