ITS l ti M -- T1IE QUAKER STATE An interesting Letter From Graplilc Header - Unionville Penn May 31 1S84 As my last communication to the Graphic was published I thought I would send another one The try that my last letter cave a descrip tion of bears uite a different appear ance at present The mountains were - covered with a very heavy growth of - underbrush and also old log camps where the ground was covered with pine brush and cord wood and bark and a very heavy lorest of pine tim ber Where houses once dotted the mountain side is now burnt and black This is all that is left of the great for est fires that raged on the mountains It cousumed everything in Its track and ras one continuous sheet of fire leaping hundreds of feet m the air the fire running to the tops of the highest trees on the mountains and traveling so fast that it was almost impossible for man or beast to make their escape Such cracking and roaring it was ter rible People running and leaving all their property behin...
