General Lee no duufrt understands as well as any one the real sentiments of the majority of Jt'he people of Virginia. If he says thai a majority are in favor of paying the rebel debt, we accept his statement as very likely to bo true. If West Virginia should be recon structed back into Virginia, it is there fore possible we might have a chance to pay a portion of that debt ourselves. If the professed "Union Conservatives" have a majority in the Legislature, when the Virginia Commissioners ap pointed recently make propositions for reunion next winter, it is possible such a reconstruction might take place; and if we are not vigilant and resolute it Is possible that the deceptions now being tried upon our people may be so...
