TO BE OP NOT TO BE [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 1 October 1910

TO BE OP NOT TO BE INCORPORATION OP EAGLE ROCK B POSITIVELY Tl IE ONLY WAV TO SUCCESS. k The committee from the. Eagle' Rock Improve).tent League has had several meetings with sonic of the leading people •of the eastern portion of the Valley during the hist two weeks, bat nothing definite seems to have been accomplished, except that it has been definitely decided to omit the Eagle Rock avenue territory from the proposed incorporated town. Whether the committee will go ahead with its plans for the incorporation of Eagle Rock proper will probably be decided at the next meeting of the tmpiovemcnt League on Monday evening. There seems to be some considerable objection to incorporation, among the citizens of the eastern portion of Eagle Rock, and many of the objections brought forward have no foundation in fact —as for instance the suggestion that the two school districts would he merged to the disadvantage of the eastern portion of the valley which now enjoys, a lower tax rate for schoo...

SHOE SHOPLEAVES TOWN Forced to Close on Acccount of Lack of Patronage. [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 1 October 1910

SHOE SHOPLEAVES TOWN Forced to Close on Acccount of Lack of Patronage. Peter Fcrrentclli, | the shoe repairer, very quietly made his exit from town the other morning and in the excitement and haste he neglected to settle an account or two. If the gentleman would have been in possession of sufficient capital and patience he no doubt would have been able to work up a nice little business in this vicinity, hut at present there is not quite enough work in his line to justify a shoe shop here.

PEOPLE Of THE VALLEY ARE A MODEL GLASS Progress, Brain and Energy Are Noticeable [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 1 October 1910

PEOPLE Of THE VALLEY ARE A MODEL GLASS Progress, Brain and Energy Are Noticeable Any citizen of this Valley could stand on the street corner, lift up his eyes and say, O Lord, I thank Thee that I do not Itvc n a city like unto other cities, without fear of cither terrestial or celestial contradiction. Eagle Ro'ck is as free from antediluvian. fossiliferous-moth-caten mossbacks as any town of its size ths side of the Pearly Gates. This good old world of ours is afflicted with too many communities composed of a niggardly lot of nonsensical ninnies whose brain could rest comfortably upon the point of a pin, and whose shriveled souls would rattle in a pea-pod like castanets in the hands of a Spanish senorita. There arc yet other towns whose people are as full al lies and deceit as the Arizona Desert is of cactus and sagebrush; as destitute of decency and Christian charity as the Sahara is of the date palm and the bread tree, There are yet other municipalities whose habitues are as far b...

San Diego’s Exposition [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 1 October 1910

San Diego’s Exposition Any expositions of an international I character are excellent means for the cultivation of friendship and harmony / between nation and nation. Besides the furtherance of international good will, there are material interests that are greatly enhanced by a big fair, and this is eminently true of the San Diego fair that will take place in 1915. At the luxurious dinner recently arranged by the San Diego Chamber of Commerce in honor of the Southern California editors one of the speakers very cleverly remarked that the 1915 exposition to be held at the Silver Gate City was the concern of the entire state and that every city, town and village represented by a journalist at the dinner tabic would greatly profit by the fair and that it was the newspapers’ duty to boost the exposition. This sentiment is heartily endorsed by the writer, who recently moved * away from San Diego for particular ■ business reasons, but who is so much attached to the southern city that he , i...
