THE RANDALL : COUNTY NEWS. Vol. XIV. Canyon Kandall County Texas Friday July S 1010. No. 15 A "Sane Fourth" Celebrated at Canyon. It can truly be" said that the citizens of Canyon had a sane fourth as most of her citizens were either at the auto races at Amarillo or out at the basket picnic over at the falls in the canyons east of here where some 300 people enjoyed themselves with an old fashioned basket pic- nic. The day was spent in the usual pastime amusements. A number of persons from Ama- rillo were present. To a number it was their first visit either to the falls or the canyons and these were so de- lighted with the grandeur of the scenery that arrangements are being made to camp out for a week. Like all other celebra- tions of the 4th it was warm but the writer does not remember of seeing snow on the ground in this latitude on July 4th. Judging from their talk and experiences of some it will make memorable July 4th 1910 as very impressive for years to come especially to the p...

COUNTY NEW Vol. XIV. Canton Randall County Texas Friday July 15 1910. No. 16 THE kANBALjL S. The Dairy Industty of the United States. According to the last year book of the Department of Agri- culture there were 21720000 miclh cows in the United States and these are worth $702945000 The magnitude of the industry can perhaps be best understood when it is considered that these cows produce yearly about $1- 000000000.00 worth of dairy pro- ducts. There is no other branch of diversified agriculture so impor- tant to the progress of a commu- nity. The fertility of the soil can best be maintained by the liberal use of the barnyard man- ure and the dairy herd not only makes this possible but dairy- ing is also more remunerative than other branches of farming when properly carried on. Dairying has made more won- derful progress since the advent of the modern creamery and the consumer of butter has not only been benifitted by being furnish- ed a more wholesome and pala- table article of food...
