HOW KIPLING WORKS. [Newspaper Article] — Healesville and Yarra Glen Guardian — 28 September 1900

HOW KIPLING WORKS, --o- In personal appearance IKipling gives one the impression cf a shrewd business man-hard-headed, restless; his remarks are rapidly lttered, and always very much to the point.. Al though his output is small, he works, on the average, close on twelse hours a day. With most literary men this amount of time would imply the pub lication of one, or perhaps two, fairly long books in the course of each year, but Kipling believes in taking. infinite pais. Hi.S. ev:ery word, is carefully weighed, and altering if it is found vanting. CYCLING NOTES. [Newspaper Article] — Healesville and Yarra Glen Guardian — 28 September 1900

CYCLING NOTES. Cycists will regret to hear that "Newhaven" Jackson, one of the most popular racing men known on Australian racing tracks, has had the misfortune to have his knee badly twisted. The accident was the result of playing football, the injuries being so serious that it is unlikely that Jackson will again ride in his best form this side of Xmas. This is the second Vic- torian racing man that has been ren- dered hors de combat during the winter through playing football. The other unfortunate being F. Fontaine who had his ankle fractured a few weeks back. A. Lykke, the South Australian cyclist, has returned after a long trip to England and the Contingent. Lykke met with only moderate success on the racing track during his stay. Two up-to-date motor cars will be landed in Melbourne to the order of the Dunlop Tyre Co. next week. The cars consist of a neat little 3½ horse power De Dion Voitureite with seating ac- comodation for four persons, capable of a speed of 20 miles an hou...
