Nobody wants that Gold Ring1. For nearly 100 years a certain family ot wocking \\eople living in Paris have ' onded their lives by suicide. From father to son, from mother to daughter, has descended a plain gold ring, and on the linger of every one of these suicides, as they lay in death, this ring has been found. Only last year the body of a young man who had killed himself was brought to the Morgue, and on his finger was the fatal golden circlet. He was the lust of his race, The ring wis buried with the corpse, from which no ono ac quainted with its history will have the courage to remove it. The mental taint in this family came from some remoto ancestor, and was intensified by their recognition of it until it became a controlling force : and the ring was accepted as imposinc; upon its possessor the obligation to commit suicide, after the example of the person who last wore it. This form of mania usually originates in a disorder of the nervous system, which in its turn arises' fro...

'' Diseased Nature oftentimes break forth itt pti-ange eruptions.' — Act iii. (scene 1. . To the Public. BOMB patients suffering from nervous _ affections are afraid from sheer ba6h fulness and modesty to PejisoxaLLY con sult a medical man — other patients have pot the self possession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms— their habitp of }ife, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down ip. the privacy of their own apart tneuts, and with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their cose, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me, is far preferable in neevous diseases to a personal concultation. Where, how ever, a disease is of a peculiar and excep tional character, a personal consultation may become necessary ! but my buccobss in correspondence is so great, that of the ihouBands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake Has ever...

Farmers, Co-operation. Proposed AMAr-GAMATioN of two Companies. One of the most important proposals yet brought up in connection with the farmers' co-operative movement is tho projected amalgamation of two large ..companies doing business with tlie farmers of tho north and south coasts of this country. The companies re ferred to are the South Coast and West Catuden, and the Clarence River and North Coast — both of which do the bulk of the produce trade of the metro polis. It need not now .be said what enormous good has been dono the farm ing community generally by the opera tions of the South Coast and West Camden Co. ; it will suffice to say that this company has been instrumental in spite of much opposition in establishing what may now be termed a market for the farmers in Sydney, and also creat ing what is practically a cash market for the fanner in every district doing lmsiness with or throueh the Comnanv. Much the same work has been 'lone in another way Iiy the Clarence and Nor...
