The following gentlemen from this district attended the Levee held by his Excellency Yiscount Hampden, Governor of N. S. W. on Thursday last Mr. Gr. Macarthur Onslow, Captain Onslow Thompson. A thunderstorm passed over the Camden district shortly after mid-day on Tuesday. The rain was very heavy at times, 33 points were recorded at the post office. Mr. R. H. Inglis, auctioneer , offered for sale on Tuesday last the following Camden town properties, a 4 roomed cottage adjoin ing the Crown hotel and 8 roomed house with a frontage of 88 feet. The cot tage after keen competition was sold to Mr. H. Rofe of Picton for £325, the house was with drawn from sale, the highest bidding was £475. Mr. P. R. Reminiscences of Cawdor [By R. Todd.]   In reviewing the early records of Cawdor     it is interesting to notice the great improve- ments which civilization has achieved in the short term of human life. For ages the district was inhabited by a race whose only care was to provide for present needs, no attempt was made to develope natural re-   scources and beyond the notch cut in trees to facilitate the climbing of the oppossum hunter, or an occasional strip of bark taken for defence, the aboriginal has left no impress of his long undisputed tenure, but no sooner does the white man begin to colonise than a vast change commences, so com- pletely altering the face of nature that were it possible for one of its early inhabitants to return to the district, he would fail to recognise it.
