BIG ENROLMENTS REPORTED AT SCHOOL OPENING The Ecma State School seems set for a record year, with its big gest initial enrolment of 424 child ren recorded on the opening of the school year on Tuesday. With further pupils yot to return, and au anticipated increase later in the year with transport facilities to ' country children, the tchool expects to have a total enrolment of at least 500. First day enrolment figures last year were 360, increasing to 402. In 1947 the figures were 293, increasing to 424. The principal (Mr. Cramptou) said yesterday that all the children had settled in smoothly. There wore 70 new iniants enrolled, all of whbm had taken to work like veterans. She State High and Intermediate School Principal (Mr. I. Perry) reported an enrolment of 135, a shade Uglier than last year.
