RAVENSWOOD. (From the Miner, March9.) [Newspaper Article] — Rockhampton Bulletin — 23 March 1872

' RAVENSWOOD. (From the Hitter, Morel 9 J THE quantity of gold-7968 oz.-taken down by the escort is tbe best test of the capabilities of this field, and when it is remembered that there hare been a great ' many very poor crosbings, and no extraordinary rich ones, it will be seen that the distribution of gold among the miners must be pretty general. Some experiments have been lately tried by Mr. Jackson, which conclusively prove that mundic stone will pay splendidly, when the proper machinery is placed on tho ground. Ho first submitted some of the tailings from tho mundic stone crashed from the Mary claim, to the action of acid, which in a few minutes revealed several little nuggets of pure gold. We could call them nothing but nuggets, and judging from the prospect, the tailings would go more than 100 ozs. to the ton. Other tailings from which nut a colour could bo got, were placed io an iron pan, fixed above tho flams in the boiler, and having been throughly roasted, gave a prospect...
