A large part of their policy for the fall depends on the e blunders of the Democrats, and they mean to make a great deal of the Southern claims business. .The un expected adoption by the Ways and Means Committee of an income tax bill has given the Republican lead ers a good deal of satisfaction. They are opposed to it, but they may allow it to pass in the Senate, where their majority is narrow that a few absentees will give the Democrats control, and they say that if an in come tax is actually levied it will save New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to the Republican party.
